Can you also enjoy plants in your home, but somehow those plants never last long in your home? That is nothing to be ashamed of, because not everyone has an aptitude for taking care of plants.
To give you a hand, we have listed a few tips. So even the most forgetful plant caretaker can enjoy a little greenery in the house!

1. Put The Plant In The Right Place
A healthy plant is in the right place. That is, not directly in the sunlight, but not completely in the dark either. Most plants grow best in a spot with enough light, but not too much so that the distribution is as natural as possible.
2. Give The Plant The Right Amount Of Water
It sounds so easy, but it’s so hard to give plants enough water without drowning them. Then again, the right amount of water varies from plant to plant. A handy tip: feel a leaf with your fingers. Does it feel dry? Then give the plant gift a little water. Also consider carefully where your plants normally live in nature. A cactus, for example, needs very little water because it normally grows in dry areas.
3. Give Them Space
If you bring a tree or plant into your home that is still growing, it can be quite advisable not to push it into a corner. The plant still needs a lot of space to mature.
4. Keep Your Plants Clean
In nature, plants are washed clean by the rain and dust is blown away by the wind, but in the house conditions are slightly different. Therefore, occasionally run a dustpan along the plants so they can breathe again.
5. Consider your Lifestyle
When choosing a houseplant, the first thing to consider is your lifestyle. Are you on the go often and a lot (maybe even for days at a time) or are you someone who forgets things easily? Then adjust your choice of houseplants accordingly. Are you forgetful or often away? Then choose a plant that requires little care such as a cactus, for example. Going on vacation once in a while is no problem, especially if you follow the tips and tricks for caring for house and garden plants while on vacation.
6. Increase Humidity
Some plants need higher humidity, as is the case, for example, with Ivy’s and tropical plants (including orchids). By giving them an occasional mist bath with a plant sprayer, you will immerse the plants in a beneficial and much-needed bath of humidity.
7. Buy your Plant from a Reliable Source
Nowadays you can buy houseplants even at the supermarket. Nevertheless, in many cases it is better to visit the specialist to purchase good and healthy plants. A garden center or a grower understands plants and can also provide you with advice, so you can be sure that you will get a good plant that meets all your expectations and that you can take care of optimally.
Of course, this does not mean that you should never buy a plant at the supermarket. On the contrary: precisely because the plants there are many times cheaper, you can buy a plant once in a while to experiment with it and see if you like it. And not all supermarket plants are of inferior quality.
Update: I buy a lot of plants from Bloompost these days and especially during Valentine’s day, because these valentine flowers are just as good as from a garden center. Bloompost is a webshop where you can find good plants that are also very affordable.
